Horseback Riding Tour to Nauyaca Waterfalls

The Nauyaca Waterfalls horseback riding tour is one of Costa Rica’s most authentic and memorable experiences. The ride covers approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles) through lush tropical landscapes, with several rest stops along the way.

The first stop is at a traditional Costa Rican home, warmly prepared to welcome visitors. Here, you’ll enjoy a delicious Tico-style breakfast and have the chance to see native animals at the family’s small mini-zoo, featuring species such as macaws, toucans, and tepezcuintles.

After breakfast, the journey continues for about 25 more minutes on horseback until reaching the magnificent Nauyaca Waterfalls, located roughly 15 minutes from Dominical on the road to San Isidro. The waterfalls are among the most impressive in Costa Rica’s Southern Pacific region, formed by two cascading falls measuring 150 feet and 65 feet high, plunging into a sparkling 20-foot-deep natural pool.

Once you arrive, you can swim in the refreshing pools, jump from the rocks, or simply relax and take in the beauty of this pristine natural paradise. It’s a perfect spot for swimming, photography, and even a bit of birdwatching in the surrounding jungle.

After spending time at the falls, you’ll ride back to the family’s home, where a typical Costa Rican lunch and freshly brewed coffee await you. Guests often unwind in the hammocks before continuing the return trip to the starting point.

Run by Don Lulu and his family, this is a truly authentic Costa Rican adventure, blending nature, culture, and warm hospitality in one unforgettable day.
